Today the junior dive team used full face masks for the first time. We learned different skills such as clearing a partially or completely flooded masks. We also learned how to equalize and perform a mask switch. A mask switch must be done when you run out of air or in case of any other emergency. You must signal to your dive buddy that you are out of air and they should provide you with their alternate air source. At that point, it is best to end the dive and ascend safely.
In Conclusion, trying out full face masks was a great experience. It is a reliable tool that we will need for our future dives in the New York Harbor. The best part is that everyone was safe and had fun.
